BBC“It was really quickly – directly, directly,” says Phil Brown, leaving a smart glass building in a shopping center in Barnesley.
He just conducted an ultrasound examination at the NHS center, which sits among the names of the familiar streets. It is easy to access health care-such as the appearance of stores.
This is part of the government’s vision of the NHS future, which will be determined soon in a 10 -year plan. In England, the ministers have already promised three major changes: converting more services from hospitals to society, focusing on preventing health disorders and using more new technology.
The BBC spent months in southern Yorkshire in an interview with people already changing how they work, to find out what will require to repair a healthy service wandering in the growing demand.
NHS must also reduce waiting times, the tight and the institution currently runs, NHS England, is canceled to reduce bureaucracy.
Another deep -rooted problem – a care system that supports the elderly and disabled in society, which suffers from a lack of employee, suffers from a lack of financing and the crisis.
Government critics say that you can only repair NHS if you repair social welfare, as it helps to get people out of the hospital more quickly and prevents some of them in the first place.
An independent committee will start considering social welfare reform next month. There will be a temporary report, but the final report is not due until 2028.
A challenge if you can repair NHS without changing the secretary of social welfare and social welfare, Wes Streeting Panorama tells that he does not need to wait for a review and plans to convert more NHS money into social care.
“I want to spend more of our resources through social welfare, because it provides better results for patients and a better value for taxpayers,” he says.

The streets will not be extracted on the amount of money that will participate, but the details about spending on social welfare will be in the NHS plan for 10 years.
Most care is paid by councils, or by the people they need. It can end at the cost of some families tens of thousands of pounds. Only those who have the highest needs get help from NHS.
NHS future
At the Barnsley Hospital, it used to take about six weeks to obtain an uncomfortable examination, but at the NHS center in the city next to the stores that most people see within two weeks.
The new scanners in the center and X -ray devices have increased the number of patients whom employees can see and edit the hospital so that they can focus on emergency and internal patients.
Phil removed skin cancer four weeks before his chin and the consultant wanted to verify two masses the size of the peas in his stomach. The scanning results will be sent to his doctor.
“It is about peace of mind. You are not waiting for appointments,” he says.
Liz Elfleet, director of medical imaging at the Parnsley Hospital Nhs Foundation that helped prepare the unit, describes this as the future of NHS.
“We have seen about 50 % of patients who do not attend appointments,” she says, and the number of women who accept an invitation to get a routine for breast detection “has increased from 43 % to less than 80 % over the three years,” she says.
The center, which provides a set of health and survey tests, was opened in 2022 under the last conservative government. The current Labor Party government says that many services will now move to the hospital to society.
In Parinsley, this really happens. Part of another shopping center is converted into a second large health center. The project will be funded by the local council, the regional mayor and a government grant.
Sir Steve Hutton says, Sir Steve Hutton says, the survey center has shown that the NHS facilities can enhance the city centers, and appreciate that people spend about 17 pounds on average in local companies when they visit.
Prevention
The second second transformation required by NHS is to focus more on preventing bad health. In Sheffield, GP has already started doing this, to help them manage the work burden that they say has become overwhelming.
Five years ago, Steel City General analyzed the data of 10,000 of their patients who need the biggest help. “So we said, let’s come proactive. They didn’t contact us – we called them,” says Dr. Krishna Kasranini.

GP dates usually take about 10 minutes, but the practice of steel city gave these patients longer dates to try to capture problems earlier. They also risked and did not chase a national goal to see all patients within two weeks.
Dr. Kasarranini says it is its fruits. “The numbers of strokes decreased during the five -year period. The numbers of coronary heart disease decreased,” he says. Doctors have helped better manage their work burden.
The improved health of patients led to the release of some appointments, and on average people are not waiting for a longer period to see someone, but the oldest population means that they are still very busy.
While GPS will be decisive to the government plan for 10 years, there is not enough of them. Taking into account those who work part-time, the equivalent number of the entirely qualified GPS has become, full-time now less than it was a decade ago-despite the high population.
Better use of technology
The third of the large NHS changes is the best use of new technology. At Sheffield Royal Halamachire Hospital, they use artificial intelligence to accelerate the comparison of heart tests.
Before, the radial photographer will take about half an hour to draw various points manually around a three -dimensional image of the heart and determine any changes from an examination made six months ago. Now Amnesty International is treated in just a few minutes.
Professor Andy Swift, who has developed the artificial intelligence tool with hospital colleagues and the University of Sheffield, says it has been used in 10,000 cases in the past few years. He says it saves about 30 minutes each time.
“As we saved, we were able to wipe more patients and also make more patients for patients,” he says.
Despite these innovations, the change of government promises is difficult in NHS struggle to deal with the increasing demand.
The solution to NHS problems also requires the treatment of social welfare difficulties, which supports about one million people who are older and handicapped in society.
In February, NHS numbers showed that about 14,000 people were unable to leave the hospital, partly due to lack of care at home and residential. More social care can also reduce fall and diseases.
“We remain pressure on NHS”
The 41 -year -old Martin family with autism, with cerebral palsy and epilepsy – says that the care worker in Sheffield, Darren Lee, has become like his brother for 20 years. Darren is known when Martin is fine and can get the right help quickly.
“We keep pressure on NHS a lot of time,” he says. “there [also] Persons in the hospital need to go out, but they cannot get the care they need. “
The care system has struggled with lack of financing, employee deficiency and increased demand for years. Like many care companies, Darren says that it is not intended to win it is “in the case of the edge of the knife” because the government also increases the costs of employing people. The national insurance for the employer and the minimum national wage will rise in April.
The government says it will give the councils in England about 900 million pounds for social welfare for adults and children during the next year. Throughout the United Kingdom, there will be increasing support for family care providers and a fair salary agreement is offered to employees.
Speaking to Panorama, Streeting says it has a “large part of playing with the transfer of care outside the hospital to society.” “I am convinced that we can spend NHS resources more effectively through social welfare,” he added.

The main opposition parties in England agree to social welfare.
But conservatives say that the government does not have a real plan.
Liberal Democrats say NHS cannot be repaired without social welfare reform. Report UK wants to simplify social care through one financing stream.
The Green Party calls for free social care.
There are also questions about whether NHS has money to make all the promising government changes.
A budget of 171 billion pounds in the fiscal year amounted to 2023-2024. He also received an additional 21 billion pounds over two years. The NHS providers, who represent boxes in England, say that most of these funds have been eaten through daily pressure, including high wages, inflation, and increased drug prices.
It warns that these competing pressures make change need more difficult.
The Minister of Health and Social Welfare agrees that it will not be easy, but he says that he cannot “continue to pour increasing amounts of taxpayer money in a system that has not been prepared to provide the best use of this money and the best care for patients.”
