On July 21, 2024, temperatures rose in many parts of the world, as the record was shattered on the most heated day on the planet.
The next day – July 22 – the record was broken again.
But even with a high temperature index every summer, people who work outdoors must choose fruits, vegetables and flowers to continue working.
The consequences can be severe, which leads to diseases such as exhausting heat, hitting heat and even acute kidney injury.
Now, the researchers are developing an innovative sensor that tracks multiple vital signs with the aim of expecting when the worker is at risk of heat disease and issuing an alert. If it is widely adopted and used constantly, it may represent a way to make workers safer on farms even without great thermal protection. Read the full story.
