Clemson wide receiver Bryant Wesko Jr. was hospitalized with what coach Dabo Swinney called a “serious” injury following the Tigers’ Week 8 loss to SMU. Wesko fell on his head in the third quarter after taking a penalty kick.
He was initially able to get out on his own strength but did not return to the game.
“I don’t have any information about him at the moment, we’ll just have to wait and see,” Sweeney said. “Just praying for him. Just a serious deal where we were concerned enough to take him in and check him out.”
Wesco served as Clemson’s primary returner because prototypical return specialist Antonio Williams Jr. recently returned from a hamstring injury. Before exiting the game, Wesko, a former running back prospect from Midlothian, Texas, returned two punts for 43 yards and four punts for 21 yards.
No attack statistics were recorded. Wesco, who had 31 catches for 537 yards and six touchdowns this year, enters the 2025 season as one of Clemson’s top offensive weapons after a freshman campaign.
The 6-foot-2 Wesko finished his senior year College football With 41 receptions for 708 yards and five touchdowns, an average of 17.3 yards per catch.
