
Cher doesn’t really like her old self.
In a candid conversation with Gayle King L CBS Morningthe 79-year-old music icon opened up about her thoughts on aging — and she didn’t hold back. When King asked, “I keep waiting for my feelings to start growing up. And I don’t have any worries about aging, do I?”
“Yes. I hate it,” Cher quickly replied. She then jokingly added: “I’m 10 years older than you, honey,” referring to the 70-year-old. CBS anchor.
King tried to highlight the positives of getting older, saying, “But I think we’re wiser. We’re more experienced.” However, Cher was not convinced, and admitted with her trademark sense of humor, “Oh, I’m stupid. I’m no wiser.”
Despite her feelings about aging, the legendary entertainer shows no signs of slowing down after more than six decades in the entertainment industry. Cher is currently working on her next album – her first collection of original songs since 2013 – while also running her new gelato brand, Cherlato.
Additionally, she is gearing up to release the second part of her memoir next year, and continues to share her incredible journey with fans.
During the same interview, Cher also spoke candidly about her relationship with music executive and producer Alexander Edwards, who is 40 years her junior.
“Nobody knew what was going on between us, but we just had fun,” she said. “He just says, you know, you get older, but he said your soul is younger.”
Cher added that their connection works effortlessly because they “laugh all the time.” She praised Edwards, saying: “I think he’s beautiful. He’s really talented. He’s one of the most talented people I’ve ever met.”
