After enjoying a season of consistency heading into the 2025 season with both coordinators remaining in place, Dan Lanning will now have to find a new offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator after this season.
Oregon ducks Defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi will reportedly leave Eugene after the 2025 season, traveling to Berkeley to take over as the next head coach of the California Golden Bears.

The move has been in the works for two weeks, but became official on Tuesday, as first reported by The athleteBruce Feldman. This comes less than a day after Oregon State offensive coordinator Will Stein accepted the Oregon head coaching job. Kentucky Wildcats.
Stein plans to stay with Oregon through the College Football Playoff and coach the offense through the rest of the season, so there should be an expectation that the same is the case for Lowboy.
Lupoi was one of Lanning’s first hires when he took over as head coach in Eugene, and he has gradually improved as a defensive play-caller for the Ducks. Oregon State has one of the best defenses in the country this year, ranking eighth in scoring defense (15.0 ppg), and second in total defense (252.3 ypg).
Lupoy will take on a project in Berkeley, with California parting ways with coach Justin Wilcox earlier this season. The Golden Bears finished the season with a 7-5 record, making them eligible for a bowl game next month.

Lupoi’s primary goal early on will be to try to keep some of the best players on the roster, such as new midfielder Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, and then work on the transfer portal in early January to build his roster for the 2026 season.
With Lowboy now off to run his own program, the search begins for a new defensive coordinator in Eugene. There are several options for Lanning to consider, but the current belief is that DC assistant and defensive backs coach Chris Hampton would be in line to get a promotion and become a DC.
