While fans and media mainly reacted with shock after learning of the Bills’ decision to part ways with longtime head coach Sean McDermott, some of the coach’s former players reacted with anger.
Bell defensive end Jordan Phillips chimed in with his organization on Monday, calling McDermott’s firing “stupid and disgusting.”
“This shit here is so stupid and frankly disgusting,” Phillips wrote on Instagram. “The best coach I’ve ever seen.”
Phillips not only wrote a statement of support for McDermott. He also included facts to support his case. The defensive lineman also included a graph showing McDermott’s impressive win-loss record in Buffalo (106-58, including playoffs), as well as statistics showing the Bills finished fifth in points scored and third in points allowed during McDermott’s tenure.
Bills management likely won’t look favorably on Phillips’ harsh criticism. However, he is an unrestricted free agent at the end of this year. So, it’s not likely to matter.
