Kei Shigma is a novelist and game writer who has worked on many projects over the years, including the likes of Asura’s Wrath and Scarlet Nexus. But he became famous for the moon: Silver Star Story and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue, a pair of SEGA Saturn and the classic PS1 who is now getting a long reformulation. Shigima says he is very excited because this beloved JRPG gets another chance, even if it is a little frightening of how the modern masses respond.
“When I saw Grandia being re -formulated first,” Shigima told Sradar+ games through an email interview, “I thought,” this is very nice. I am jealous! “It was, of course, was developed by the same studio as Lunar in games art, and SHIGEMA will contribute itself to the completion – but this is Lunar this is really his child.
“I was also hoping to reformulate the moon,” Shigima continues, “so I felt overwhelmed when it was announced. At the same time, I can only wonder – Are players today still enjoying a game for 30 years?” Shigma is not directly involved in the production of the New Lunar Remasted Group, which is launched next month, but nevertheless realizes its importance in helping a new audience find these old games.
“You can enjoy movies, novels and manga in their original form, but games require the devices that were originally released, which makes them accessible much less. While watching old videos, it can give you a general idea of what game is, as the question indicates, that games are ultimately the media must be experienced,” he says.
“Nothing compares to capture a console and play for yourself. For this reason, this Remaster is very exciting – it restores that experience to a new generation. I hope that after playing the moon, the players will look at the moon and think,“ Oh … this is the place where my adventure occurred. “
Shigima describes his time working on the moon as “the happiest and most satisfied in my life,” and says, “One of the biggest lessons that I learned is that games cannot be presented by one person. It takes a team of talented developers who meet to create a much larger thing than anyone can achieve on his own.” This experience inspired him to find Gekko Inc, a “game script company” that worked on titles such as Secret of Mana Secret 2018 until Switch RPG, Mario & Luigi: Brothership.
The inheritance produced by the Shigma work on Lunar is still valid, and it will have a completely new generation with the opportunity to find out how it started when the lunar group PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC hit April 18. Expect more of our interview with Shigma in the coming days.
