Three national forest officials were arrested for enabling illegal cuts and the use of unauthorized lands in the Biomeda Forest Reserve in Uganda, The Nile Post I mentioned.
Those who were arrested are Joseph Ikoma, forest supervisor, periodic men, MWIBAZE DAVID and Matsiko Winston. According to what these officers cooperated with the individuals participating in the illegal wood harvesting, coal production, and unauthorized agriculture in the protected area.
These protected forests extend to approximately 30,000 hectares, which are the decisive water gatherings of Lake Victoria and the Nile River system. Its dense umbrella helps clean air, stabilize temperatures, and support countless plant and animal species.

NFA has climbed protection efforts in recent months, as 68 individuals were arrested inside the Mabira Forest alone. She seized 29 vehicles carrying wood and illegal coal, booked 100 motorcycles and 60 energy -volumes used in unauthorized trees, and worked to cancel 112 illegal land addresses.
“We are committed to protecting our forest reserves, and anyone who violates the law will face justice. These arrests should be a warning to all participants in illegal forest activities,” said Aldon and Campapa, the director of communications and public relations at NFA.
Police Commissioner’s assistant Francis Ologo confirmed that the suspects are accused of criminal negligence of the duty, as additional investigations are explored possible charges of corrupt neglect of the duty under multiple laws.
Acting CEO of NFA Stewart Manirago has ordered the investigation after media reports revealed a network of illegal activities, including NFA officials who have allegedly rented forest lands for agriculture and cooperating with factories to harvest wood illegally.
NFA has pledged to enhance surveillance and enforcement to maintain forest resources in Uganda in the long run.
