“America first” can turn into “India first”

America is great because of its willingness to accept talented immigrants.

This is what Nandan Nelikani, co -founder of the billionaire of Infosys Technologies, will tell President Trump if he had the opportunity.

“If you really want to keep the United States … globally, you should be open to external talent,” Nilikani said on the sidelines of the Asia PIN Business Forum in Bangalore.

Infosys ((Infy)) It is the second largest show for India’s India, and obtained the main American H-1B visas. The documents allow the technology company to use a large number of Indians in US jobs.

The Trump administration is now studying major changes in the visa program. Journalist Sean Spicer said in January that Trump will continue to talk about repairing the H-1B program, among other things, as part of a larger batch to repair immigration.

Restrictions on the most difficult Indian workers visas can strike.

India is the highest source of employment with high skills for the American technology industry. According to US government data, 70 % of famous H-1B visas go to the Indians.

The shares have decreased in many Indian technology companies – including Infosys – amazingly two weeks ago, amid reports of an imminent work visa campaign.

Nilkani said it would be wrong to continue the administration.

“Indian companies have done a lot to help us become more competitive companies, and I think this should continue,” Nilikani said. “If you look at Silicon Valley … most companies have a migrant founder.”

But Nilkani, also an architect of the ambitious biological identifier in India, suggested that India will eventually benefit from any new restrictions placed in the framework of the Trump plan “First”. If talented engineers are not able to go to the United States, they will stay in India.

“These number of visas have always appeared in the United States every few years, especially during the election season,” he said. “It has already accelerated development work [in India]Because … people invest more to do the work here. ”

Nilekani cited its own projects of the Indian government as an example.

In 2009, businessman born in Bangalore left to manage the huge social security program in India, known as Aadhaar. As a result of the initiative, the vast majority of India, who number 1.3 billion citizens, now have a vital identification number that allows them to receive government services, implement banking transactions, and even conduct biometric payments.

“It has been built by the very talented Indians and commitment,” Nelikani said. “Many of them had global experience, but they brought that talent and experience to solve India’s problems.”

Nilkani said that the huge youth in the country are increasingly choosing to stay at home and promote.

“It is India first,” he said.
