Adeleletta Greajalva, the daughter of the late Progressive Congress member Raul Greva, won special elections on Tuesday to fill the seat that was open when her father died earlier this year.
Greajova faced Republican competitor Daniel Potters in the heavy blue area in Arizona, which covers the southern parts of the state and the border areas.
Raul Grevaa occupied the seat for more than two decades, until his death in 77 in March. His daughter Latina will become Arizona to Congress.
The filling of the seat narrows the advantage of Republicans in the House of Representatives, as it was approved by Trump’s “Grand and Beautiful Bill” by Trump with only one vote.
Adeleletta Greva, a long -elected local official in the south of Arizona, and led the competitors of Democrats in the preliminary elections that attracted national attention amid a continuous debate on the future of the Democratic Party, especially its elderly candidates, as Raul Greva was one of the multiple democratic legislators in the office.
The 54 -year -old Grevava, criticism from her main competitor, Diga Fox, a 25 -year -old influential, has called Fox’s name “The name of the Old Family”. Greajova defended her own policy record, but she was not ashamed of the legacy of her family in the region as well. She worked for 20 years on the board of directors of the Toxon School, and she was supervisor in Pima Province since 2020. She also received approvals from dozens of progressive heavyweights and elected officials at the state level.
“I do not use my father’s last name,” Greajova told the Guardian newspaper earlier this year. “It is also mine. I have worked in this community very long-26 years in a non-profit institution, 20 years in the school board of directors, four years and four months in the Supervisors Board. I also got my last name.”
Greva, a progressive, said that democracy that supports, supported immigrant rights, and protects access to medical aid and medical care is among its higher priorities. She said during the introductory elections, if elected, she wants to press for medicaid for all and the new green deal.
