AAG Dhillon reminds Democrats running Virginia elections that DOJ ‘means business’ with new suit – RedState

The Trump administration has been a bloodhound on the hunt for bad guys since returning to the White House in January 2025 when it comes to exposing waste, fraud, and abuse in our nation’s voter rolls.

One of the key people in the case for ensuring election integrity, as RedState previously wrote, is Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, who leads the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice (DOJ). As of early January, the Department of Justice has done just that He filed a lawsuit against 23 states — which is mostly run by Democrats — for resisting Justice Department requests for access to voter rolls.

During a recent interview, Dillon gave the American people an update on her office’s latest victories by enforcing laws on the books, comparing them to the blatant weaponization that occurred under the former president. Biden.

She points out that they forced the state of North Carolina to take 100,000 voter registrations and clean them by proving that the registered people are American citizens. She also said the Justice Department helped Wyoming defend its “excellent voter ID law from a challenge from the left.”

She then adds that she agrees with the host that “this would never have happened in the previous administration. In fact, they hired a bunch of lawyers to use the federal government as a weapon against states that are trying to do a better job of election integrity.”

“We have put an end to that,” she says in conclusion. And this week, as my colleague Susie Moore pointed out, Dillon was part of another election integrity win:

The process is not over yet. On Friday, AAG Dhillon had some bad news for the Democrats running elections in the Commonwealth of Virginia — those who have refused to work with the administration on securing free and fair voting for all Americans — with the announcement of their 24th lawsuit:

“Virginia becomes the next state to be sued for ignoring federal law! @TheJusticeDept Meaning business – and @civil rights We will continue to fight to clean the voter rolls. Happy Friday!” she wrote on her X account.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Richmond County, against Susan Bales, Virginia’s commissioner of elections, states that Bales’ “refusal to provide election records” requested by the Department of Justice violates Title III of the Civil Rights Act. It also asks the court to “order Commissioner Bales to provide the Attorney General or her representative” with records of registered voters within five days of the court’s order.
