While there are many affordable luxury compact SUVs out there, we think the Macan outshines its competitors in this segment. Although it is one of the most expensive options, the fact that it offers the high levels of luxury and performance of a true sports car more than makes up for it.
The Macan is built on one of the most impressive platforms of any SUV out there, and while the four-cylinder engine is good, we think upgrading to a V-6 is the way to go. That means opting for the S model. The Sport Chrono and Premium packages are very attractive, adding things like launch control, heated front and rear seats, an upgraded sound system, and adjustable driving modes.
If you’re willing to spend a little, there’s definitely a case for a GTS too. It’s one of the most attractive crossovers on the market, coming very close in performance and agility to some of the original sports cars.
