
Bladensburg, Maryland– BLADENSBURG, Md. (AP) — A hit-and-run driver at an outdoor birthday party in suburban Washington, D.C., injured nine children and two adults Saturday evening, police said.
A girl and a young boy were seriously injured in the accident in Bladensburg, Maryland, according to data from the city’s police department and the Prince George’s County Fire Department.
A video of the scene posted on social media showed a white tent with its front torn off on the grass outside a house.
Seven other children and two adults suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, officials said. Bladensburg police said in a statement that the children ranged in age from two to nine years old.
Authorities said the driver got out of the car and fled, but was not found. Investigators have not determined why the vehicle went off Maryland Highway 450 at approximately 10:15 p.m. Saturday.
