A man was struck by a vehicle and killed late Thursday evening shortly after a caller called 911 to report a person walking on the road in dark clothing, the Hazel Crest Police Department said in a news release.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Anthony Asari, 30, of Hazel Crest.
Officers were sent to the 3300 block of 175th Street to conduct a wellness check after the call in question, but then another call came in reporting a person had been hit by a vehicle in the same area, police said.
Police said Asari was taken for medical treatment by paramedics but died from his injuries.
According to the press release, the driver of the car has not been charged with any crime. Police said the matter is still under investigation, and no further information is available.
