The global sea surface temperatures exceeded 2023-24 the previous record with an unprecedented margin. Statistical models and climatic models based on observation indicate that such jumps are unlikely to occur at ocean temperatures even with global warming, but they are almost impossible without them. In climatic models, temperatures are due to the long -term warming in the years after these jumps.
