IKEA is revamping its smart home efforts in a serious way, recently knocking out several new contenders on our best smart bulbs list — and one of the most impressive models in the lighting category is now available for purchase again.
The light in question is Solfenden floor lamp from IKEAwas quietly put on sale by the Swedish furniture giant just a few days ago. Although there was not much fanfare around its launch, it proved popular with buyers Social media participants.
The Solvinden floor lamp can be yours for just $49.99 / £29 (it doesn’t appear to be available in Australia yet), available alongside other entries in the Solvinden range – including Pendant lamp And a Table lamp.
IKEA has described this as a ‘limited edition’, so perhaps it’s no surprise that it sold out quickly. There are reports of them being out of stock, but these are being replenished, and appear to be available for purchase in both the US and UK at the time of writing.
Situations and moods
Obviously, the main selling point of the Solvinden floor lamp is its sleek, slim, arched design. The stand and outer housing are finished in a deep red, with the light itself wrapped around the interior of the bracket.
You have three light levels to choose from: strong, medium and ambient. Furthermore, it is suitable for outdoor use, with an IP44 rating – I wouldn’t recommend sticking it at the bottom of the garden, but it should be fine on balconies.
This is not a smart light, as you can’t control it from your phone or set lighting schedules or anything like that. However, it looks great, and IKEA promises it will give your living spaces “depth, contrast and a cozy ambiance.”
The TechRadar team was also impressed The donut-shaped Varmblixt LED lamp that IKEA unveiled at CES 2026, but the Solvinden floor lamp may beat it in terms of overall appeal — and if you’re keen on it, get it while you can.
