James Gunn rules out releasing the “Batman” films in the same year

DC Co-President James Gunn gives fans an update on their favorite superhero, Batman. The studio has two spin-off films based on the Caped Crusader.

The first is obviously the long-awaited Matt Reeves Batman Part Twostarring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne.

This Dark Knight hero is part of DC’s Elseworlds universe. The film is scheduled to be released in October 2027.

Gunn then stabs the titular superhero The brave and the bold. It’s part of the studio’s main canon, but the director is against releasing two films in the same year.

“I’m counting on when there’s a script ready to go, so there’s no way to guess that. Also, honestly, we’re in Batman 2, and I don’t want to block the Batsphere until after that,” the director shared on Threads in response to a fan’s query.

This response leads one fan to say that James is “downplaying” Bruce Wayne’s importance to DC. But the director responded, saying: “I’m not like that at all. I think Batman and WW are very important. But I’m also not going to direct two Batman movies in the same year.”

Additionally, the cast was recently updated for Batman Part Two It reveals that Sebastian Stan has joined the film as Harvey Dent, with Scarlett Johansson in a yet-to-be-revealed role. Colin Farrell’s Penguin is also set to return in the sequel.
