
Green Day are set to kick off the 2026 Super Bowl with their performance at the opening ceremony.
The California rockers will rock the pre-game entertainment stage at Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium, with band members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Trey Cool kicking off this year’s celebrations with “rock’s most iconic anthems.”
According to the NFL, the punk rock trio’s back catalog includes hits such as Basket case, wake me up when September is over, and American idiot.
“We are so excited to have Super Bowl 60 in our backyard!” Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong said in a statement.
“We are honored to welcome the best players who have helped shape the game and open the night to fans around the world. Let’s have fun! Let’s raise our voices!” added the rock star.
The opening ceremony celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Super Bowl, which will take place on February 8.
“Celebrating 60 years of Super Bowl history with Green Day as a hometown band, while honoring the NFL legends who helped define the sport, is an incredibly powerful way to kick off Super Bowl LX,” said Tim Tobito, NFL senior director of event and game presentation.

Green Day’s performance at the Super Bowl opening ceremony precedes the NFL’s previously announced entertainment lineup.
