Ben Affleck reminisces about filming the hit movie Armageddon.
During the last chat on Jake takesThe Hollywood star revealed that he fell seriously ill while filming the most emotional scenes in the sci-fi space film.
In the film, Penn plays AJ Frost, who is sent into space as a driller to prevent an asteroid from soon reaching Earth. In the final moments of the film, Bruce Willis, played by Harry S. Stamper, sacrifices his life so Frost can return home to his fiancée, played by Liv Tyler.
The emotional scene was not easy to film for Ben as he predicts he was suffering from severe food poisoning at the time and was vomiting in a trash can between takes.
“When we shot that scene, I got food poisoning, and I wasn’t an experienced enough actor at that point to know that you could just pick up the phone and say, ‘I’m too sick to work today.’ I better get in,” Ben recalls.
And his condition worsened between takes. “I went in and I was literally — this is the only time it’s ever happened in my life — throwing up between takes. They had a trash can and they were saying ‘cut,'” Ben shared, making the vomiting sound.
“Maybe it would make the scene better!”
Ben stressed that it was not about heroics, adding: “It wasn’t a martyrdom, you know?”
