
Colin Jost has found humor in his wife Scarlett Johansson’s recent fall from the top of the all-time box office ratings.
The comedian addressed new data during the January 17 episode of Saturday Night Live.
While presenting the news during Weekend updateJost jokingly suggested that the classification should include his own filmography. When a bar graph appeared on the screen, he joked that Johansson might regain the top spot if box office earnings from her husband’s films were added up.
“Well, let’s see what happens if you include the box office of Scarlett’s husband’s films,” he joked.
The punchline arrived when Johansson’s humorous total dropped even further, leaving Jost in a state of disbelief. “You fell?” Colin said, laughing with the audience.
Meanwhile, Saldana responded to the accomplishment with gratitude rather than competition.
In a video shared on Instagram, she thanked major franchises and collaborators who have shaped her career, including AvatarAnd the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Trek. She also credited directors such as James Cameron, JJ Abrams, the Russo Brothers, and James Gunn for believing in her and challenging her as an artist.
Saldana also paid tribute to her fans, describing them as the foundation of her success, and expressed her hope that she would be the woman to break the next record as well.
This transformation comes after Saldana’s recent appearance in… Avatar: Fire and Ashesbringing its cumulative worldwide box office total to an estimated $16.86 billion. Johansson now sits right behind her with $16.43 billion.
Johansson and Saldana are joined in the list of the five highest-grossing actors by recurring franchise collaborators Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Pratt.
