Sources: Inter Miami is eyeing a $15 million move to buy Berteram from Monterrey

Inter Miami FC has expressed interest in signing Rayados de Monterrey and Mexico national team striker Germán Berteram, sources confirmed to ESPN on Friday.

Sources have revealed that the MLS side would be willing to pay the player’s release clause to complete the transfer. Mexican media reported that Berteram’s release condition was $15 million.

The deal between Inter Miami and Rayados for Berterame has not been finalized yet.

Berteram started for Rayados on Friday night and scored a goal in his side’s 5-1 win over FC Mazatlán.

Before Rayados, Berterami featured for Argentine sides San Lorenzo and Patronato before making his Liga MX debut with Atletico San Luis in 2019. While playing for Atletico San Luis, the striker scored 31 goals in 93 appearances in all competitions and claimed the Golden Boot of the 2021 Apertura tournament.

Berteram then joined Rayados in 2022, where he scored 67 goals and provided 15 assists in 152 appearances in all competitions.

His efforts in Liga MX have earned him recognition from the Mexican national team, after he became eligible to participate in El Tricolor by completing the naturalization process in the country.

Although Berteram has previously featured for the Argentina youth national team, his lack of appearances for the first team has allowed the striker to represent Mexico without having to make a one-time FIFA switch.

Other MLS teams have previously expressed interest in Berterame. FC Cincinnati attempted to activate the player’s prior release clause, but the parties failed to reach an agreement to complete the transfer.
