From the beginning, Jack Black says he knew acting was his only career path. He explains how he never had a job before working in Hollywood.
“Oh my God, that’s a shameful answer,” he says. “I’ve never had a job.” Rotten tomatoes. But he adds that he briefly worked at one job.
It was telemarketing. But there, the Jumanji star remembers how much he failed. “I was telemarketing one day, and I didn’t make a single sale, and I said to myself, ‘I can already say my soul has been sucked out.’ I bailed, and I made a decision right then and there.”
“It was like, ‘It’s showbiz or bust.’ I’ll do acting or music, and if I can’t do that I’ll just live at my mom’s house. I know it just seems like this [weird]. “I had no plan B, no backup,” he said, adding: “She didn’t need it. I was destined for this.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Paul Rudd, who also stars Anaconda“It was really the first time,” he reflects on working with Jack, adding: “I really got to see that [Black] At work.”
“People are in awe of him, really. And the greatest thing about it all was, no matter who he was at what age — especially kids — Jack was such a good guy, that seeing him interact with everyone was amazing,” he shares.
