The grand opening of Iduna…a crow The Grand Ballroom, the centerpiece of the newly constructed Oak Ridge Convention Center, is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 22.
A private plaque unveiling ceremony, followed by a light reception, will be held at the Center, 1403 Oak Ridge Turnpike.
The hall, named after longtime community leader Edwina Crowe, features state-of-the-art audio-visual technology, elegant architectural design and flexible space for large-scale meetings, banquets and events, a news release said. Crowe died on January 13, 2025.
“The Edwena L. Crowe Grand Ballroom will not only serve as a premier gathering place for our residents, but will also attract conferences, events and visitors that will boost our local economy,” said Oak Ridge Mayor Warren Gooch.
The newly renovated 10,834-square-foot Oak Ridge Convention Center, which includes the ballroom, also includes two equipped break rooms, fully ADA-compliant restrooms and showers, improved access to the existing kitchen and entertainment center, and a comprehensive sprinkler system upgrade to enhance safety throughout the entertainment center, making it one of the most versatile venues in East Tennessee, the release said.
