Queen icon Brian May teases unreleased music

Queen guitarist Sir Brian May will play a previously unreleased Queen composition that “no one has heard before”.

The 78-year-old songwriter will play Not for sale (polar bear) For the first time during a special celebratory broadcast on Planet Rock on Monday.

The song was originally recorded during the sessions for Queen’s 1974 album, The second queenHowever, the final cut has not been made with its remastered version which will appear on the album’s upcoming 2026 release.

While a “bootleg” version of the song may have already been circulated by May’s pre-Queen band, Smile, the guitarist has confirmed that “no one has heard” this version.

Sir Brian said: “It’s a song that goes back a very long time, but as far as I know no one has heard this version before.”

“It is a work in progress and will feature in the band’s upcoming rebuild,” the musician continued The second queen “The album – it’s coming next year – but I’m going to include this on my Planet Rock show because I’m fascinated to see what people think of it.”
