Wide receiver DK Metcalf appears to throw a punch at a fan during an NFL game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Detroit Lions.
The incident occurred in the second quarter of Sunday’s game at Ford Field in Detroit when Metcalf went into the stands to interact with a fan.
Television footage showed Metcalfe grabbing the fan’s blue wig before punching the fan in the face.
The fan, who was leaning on the railing as the pair discussed it, didn’t seem too bothered after the incident and raised his arms in a celebratory manner.
“[Metcalf] “She came because the fan in the stands had a ‘For Pittsburgh’ T-shirt,” CBS correspondent Tracy Wolfson said in the station’s coverage.
“He went over and the fan said something to him, obviously.
“Metcalf didn’t like what he said and I saw the beating there. The Steelers didn’t come to him and he didn’t mention anything.”
The 28-year-old was allowed to stay in the match because the referees did not watch the fight.
But the Steelers must now wait to see if Metcalf is disciplined before next week’s game against the Cleveland Browns.
