Since 2018, Bowen Yang has been a part of Saturday Night Livebut that is no longer the case as the artist bids farewell to the sketch comedy show; He has tears in his eyes.
Sharing the stage with him evil Co-star Ariana Grande, who was presenting the series, choked up when the latter said to him: “Can I just say how much I loved your line in Wicked?”
He replied: “Thank you,” and the pop icon said: “You’re welcome.” Prompting Bowen to add, “No, no, that was my line in the movie: Thank you.”
The previous day, the 35-year-old shared a lengthy post about his feelings during his time at SNL, thanking his colleagues.
“I loved working at SNL, and most of all, I loved the people. I was there at a time when so many things in the world were starting to seem pointless, but working on 30 Rock taught me the value of showing up anyway when people make it worthwhile,” he said in an Instagram post.
He continued, “I’m grateful for every minute of my time there. I learned about myself (bad with wigs). I learned about others (generous, vulnerable, sexy). I learned that human error can only be wrong. I learned that comedy is mostly logistical and that it usually fails until it doesn’t fail, and that’s for the best.”
“Thank you Lorne for the job. For the level. For bringing everyone together. They all care so deeply about the people in the room, in which room, and enjoy themselves. I can’t believe I was involved in this at all,” Bowen concluded. “The show doesn’t go on because it’s ready, but I wish I was ready.”
