Kate Winslet has revealed some of the cast members in her directorial debut Goodbye June She was underpaid because she could not get a big enough budget for the film.

appearing on Kermode and mayonnaise “When you’re a woman, you do a lot of calling and requesting services, so sometimes with a budget like Goodbye June, you might be asking people to come in and work for less than their weekly wage,” Kate said in a podcast on Saturday.
“I’m talking about department heads and their staff. Sometimes people take a little hit because they want to come and be a part of that experience and they want to support you, and we did that in Goodbye June,” the Lee star shared.
“There’s somehow this societal assumption that they’ll automatically know what they’re doing, whereas the same assumption doesn’t apply to women,” she said of male actors who direct.
She pointed out, “This is not true, and it is actually not fair because what it means is that it will be difficult for us to produce films, and it will be difficult for us to get the kind of budgets we need to produce those films.”
“What’s strange about the male actors – and this is not a criticism of them at all because when I think about the amazing young actors in this country who have been directing recently, it’s incredibly exciting – but they are allowed to continue working,” she reiterated.
