Timberwolves coach Chris Finch was ejected in the first quarter for refereeing complaints against the Thunder

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Timberwolves coach Chris Finch was ejected midway through the first quarter of the game against Oklahoma City on Friday night for complaining loudly about the officiating.

With the start of the holiday, a national broadcast and the champions in town, the atmosphere at Target Center was particularly rejuvenated — and so was Finch about some of what he said were mistakes on the Thunder.

Finch has long expressed particular irritation with the way Minnesota’s games against Oklahoma City were run, one he lost after Julius Randle picked the ball up at the rim against 7-footer Isaiah Hartenstein and missed without even blowing a whistle.

Finch chased referee John Butler onto the court to shout his case and soon committed a technical foul. He then attacked the rest of the crew during the break and earned a second with an accompanying ejection.

Finch had to be restrained by his assistant coaches and team security before he relented and left the court to a standing ovation with 6:19 left in the first quarter.
