At an Oval Office event on Thursday, Trump responded to the name change.
.@potos: “I was surprised by it, and honored by it. We’re saving the building… This building was in very bad shape — physically, financially, and in every other way… The Kennedy Center has come back really strong.” https://t.co/MH9ZFbsFv3 pic.twitter.com/uYQYTNkUiL

“I was surprised by that, and honored by it,” the president said. “We’re saving the building… This building was in very bad shape – physically, financially, in every other way, and now it’s very solid, very strong… The Kennedy Center has come back really strong.” He went on to explain how his administration obtained huge donations to “save” the arts institution.
The rebranding comes after President Trump himself appeared to drop the idea that this could happen again in August.
Speaking to a press group in the Oval Office, Trump spoke about the 2026 World Cup draw that will be held there, when he appeared to abandon the idea of changing the name.

Later, Trump did something similar suggestion During his visit to the Kennedy Center.
According to the new Fox story linked above:
During a visit to the Kennedy Center in early December, Trump was asked if he thought the performing arts center would eventually bear his name.
“I don’t know. I heard that, but I don’t know,” Trump said, adding that any such decision would be made by the center’s “very prestigious” board of directors.
Earlier in December, the State Department announced that the US Institute of Peace building would be renamed to include Trump, given all the work he has done to bring peace to the world, RedState reported.
This morning, the State Department renamed the former Peace Institute to reflect the greatest dealmaker in our nation’s history.

The building’s new title is the “Donald J. Trump US Institute for Peace.”
Boy, if building a grand ballroom in the White House caused a major left-wing collapse, I can only imagine what changing the name of the Kennedy Center would do. Popcorn, anyone?
