Fans react after The Weeknd was excluded from the 2026 Grammy Awards

Despite delivering one of the most popular albums of 2025, The Weeknd was once again snubbed from Grammy nominations, sparking outrage among fans and critics alike.

His latest releases, Hurry tomorrowhas been widely praised as a career-defining effort and is intended to be the final chapter for the character known as “The Weeknd.”

The album received recognition at the BET Awards and MTV VMAs, including a Best Album nod, but the Recording Academy did not give it a single nomination.

This omission is especially notable considering that Hurry Up Tomorrow debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and broke several streaming and sales records. In light of the intense competition between the categories, his absence remained conspicuous, making fans question the academy’s judgement.

Album of the Year nominations include:

  • I should take more pictures -Bad bunny
  • booty -Justin Bieber
  • Man’s best friend -Sabrina Carpenter
  • Let God sort them out – Clipse (Pusha T & Malice)
  • Chaos – lady gaga
  • GNX – Kendrick Lamar
  • Death – Leon Thomas
  • Chromacopia – Tyler, the Creator

The Weeknd’s snub goes beyond album of the year, as he showed up in multiple categories. This is not the first time he has clashed with the Grammys.

In 2021, he called the organization “corrupt” after being disqualified for his critically acclaimed album After Hours.

In 2025, he reconciled with the academy, and performed Eternal During the 67th Grammy Awards after CEO Harvey Mason Jr. highlighted reforms to the nominating committee.

Many fans viewed this appearance as a ratings move. Less than a year later, The Weeknd finds himself once again at odds with the Grammy Awards, the most famous act yet again ignored by the establishment.
