A bullet penetrates the window of J.D. Vance’s brother’s church after a series of threats

Corey Bowman, Vice President J.D. Vance’s half-brother and a Cincinnati pastor, said he would not be “deterred” after a bullet went through his church window, following a series of threats against him and his family.

In a post on X, Bowman, who is the pastor of Cincinnati River Church, shared that an investigation is underway after a bullet hole was discovered in the church window on Saturday when no one was in the building.

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, while preparing for our church service at 503 Clark Street, we discovered a bullet hole that had penetrated an exterior window on the Clark Street side of the building.

A formal report was made to the Cincinnati Police Department, which was very helpful. Because the building was vacant during the incident, it was classified as property damage.

Bowman continued:

He added: “It is worth noting that over the past week, there have been many negative posts on social media, specifically regarding my family’s personal residence and church address.” “The posts being made are due to the nature of our current mayoral campaign. Throughout this campaign, we have unfortunately encountered negativity, including threatening messages directed at our church, our business, and our family.”

“Despite these challenges, we have adapted and made decisions to continually prioritize the safety and security of my family and those around us,” Bowman continued, noting that he will not be at church on Sunday due to “a previously scheduled appointment at another local church in Cincinnati.”

He noted that church services would continue and assured worshipers that the church had taken “appropriate security measures” with staff in place.

“The safety of the families and individuals in our church has always been and will continue to be our top priority,” Bowman concluded. “We will not be intimidated or deterred by any obstacles. Our life’s work is to positively impact the people of Cincinnati, and that commitment remains steadfast.”

Bowman is a Republican running against current Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Borval (D) in the upcoming November 4 election, Ohio.News I mentioned.

The report stated:

Crime has been the focus of this year’s mayoral race, particularly after the July 26 brawl in downtown Cincinnati, which went viral as bystanders chose to record it rather than call the police. In the wake of the viral beating that took place at West Fourth and Elm Streets in downtown Cincinnati, authorities have charged at least eight people in connection with the fight.

Critics criticized Bourval for his slow response to what became a national story.

It may be too early to declare the incident to be the latest example of political violence against right-wingers. However, since this happened in a church, it is fair to point out that this is another time the church has been attacked.
