President Donald Trump announced Friday that he is endorsing Navy SEAL Ed Gallerin to challenge Kentucky Republican Rep. Thomas Massie.
Trump has repeatedly criticized Massie in recent months, issuing a warning that he and his team would prioritize the Republican representative. In a lengthy post to Truth Social, Trump called Massie a “third-rate congressman” and a “weak, pathetic Reno,” suggesting he should be “fired from office, ASAP” before announcing his endorsement of Galerin.
“The wonderful people of Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District have given us a mandate to make America great again, and the person who will help us do that is Marine, Army Ranger, and fifth-generation Kentucky farmer, Captain Ed Gallerin, America’s true first patriot,” Trump wrote. “Ed, a brave veteran, knows the wisdom and courage required to defend our country, support our military/veterans, and ensure peace through strength.”
While Gallerin has not officially announced his run against Massie, Trump said he hopes the Marine will enter the race, adding that if he does, he will have the president’s “full and complete endorsement.” (Related: Republicans who object to Trump rarely survive — will Epstein Truthers survive?)
“I hope Ed gets into the race against Massie, who is now at about 9% of the vote, because the great people of Kentucky are being wise to him — he only votes against the Republican Party, which makes life very easy for the radical left,” Trump added. “Run, run, run – MAGA!”
