Democrats hope to win the American Council in the middle of the period may depend on the powers of California governor, Gavin New No. He leads a campaign to restore the area, giving his party the advantage.
Aisha Rasko, host:
Democrats hope to take control of the US House of Representatives in the mid -term elections next year, and these hopes may depend on the governor of California, Democrat Gavin News. He asked the voters there to pass the plan to re -divide the circles that would help the Democrats win the seats in an attempt to confront Texas, which has reformulated its maps in favor of the Republicans. KQed’s Marisa Lagos has this report.
Marissa Lagos, the imagination line: Newsm did not remove the words last month as it signs the bill to develop its plan to re -divide the circles in front of the voters in November. He blamed President Trump to change the map in Texas.

Gavin New Tiri: We got here because the President of the United States is struggling.
Lagos: Newsom was never shy of choosing a fight. In 2004, as the mayor of San Francisco, he gave the doors of the city hall in front of husbands of the same sex and ordered the city’s workers to start marriage, despite the federal and federal ban on gay marriage. Republican political advisor Mike Madrid is tracing a straight way from that battle to this battle with Trump.
Mike Madrid: Culture wars are the place where the Democrats went to run and die. They do not want these battles at all. Like Gavin, give me the sword. I will go there. He wins.
Lagos: Newsom tried to communicate with Trump earlier this year as Los Angeles was consuming forest fires, but that changed when Trump sent the National Guard to Los Angeles because of the NewSom’s objections. Since then, newsoms and employees have taken an aggressive and increasing tone. As Trump Newosum as Newscum, the ruler mimics Trump’s social media style through comprehensive tweets, indicates that Trump suffers from dementia and describes him as a loser.
More importantly, newsom leads the charge to re -draw the Congress areas in California, and the hope of the ruler, turns five seats controlled by the Republican Party in the hands of democracy next fall. Newsom’s approach is to win the praise of many on the left, including 26 -year -old Elllek Linton (PH), a voter in San Francisco that I met after necessitating KQD show.
Ellek Linton: In general, like, his behavior and approach is really what we need. Like, this is frankly, I think the only way will be by Trump. You have to go to this level.
Lagos: But the next task is more strict than victory over social media. It is convincing to the voters to support a poll that would form a re -dividing the famous independent circles in the state. However, Linton says the times require this, even if it means adopting the tactic that Trump and Texas uses.
Linton: I don’t think anyone agrees with GERRYMANDERING, but at the same time, this is a kind of necessity. Like, as you know, if there is one side it will cheat, we must re -cheat. Like, this is life.
Lagos: Republicans in California see the movesom move as a strict power seizure. In the association hall last month, the Republican leader, James Gallagher, said that Trump was wrong to restore the region and warned that through the president’s followers, newsoms record the country on a dangerous path.
(Soundbite from the Archiving Registration)
James Gallagher: Gavin fights fire with fire. To date, he pushes these circuits plannings, this gavinmander. You move forward, fight fire with fire. What is happening? You burn everything. In this case, it affects our most important American principle – acting.
Lagos: Even his party members criticized newsoms for his ambitions, and perhaps including the presidential tour. But these days, those voices were guided. Here is the former California state, Mark Lino, who has known New two decades.
Mark Lino: Don’t think that this is all about Gavin and everything about the aspirations of Gavin. This is about the survival of our nation.
Lagos: It is expected that the campaign to divide the circles is close and attract money from all parts of the country on both sides. Those close to newsoms say he will mix this battle of his successful campaign for 2021 to overcome an attempt to summon, which he also directly focused on Trump and Maga Republicans.
