Driving theory test to include CPR first aid questions

People sitting in the leadership theory will soon need to increase the skills of life -saving cardiac resuscitation (CPR), and the UK standards agency (DVSA) has decided.

All road users are encouraged to learn the basics and learn how to use a fibrillation in the event of an emergency.

It is hoped that the questions, which will be added to the car theory test and motorcycles in early 2026, will prevent the deaths that can be avoided.

DVSA says drivers are often in the scene when someone suffers from a heart attack.

She says that adding information to official learning materials means that 2.4 million drivers are learners who test their theory every year will have a better understanding of the skills to be used in the event of emergency.

The new content learning materials have already been updated, including questions like “Who can use a general fibrillation remover for public arrival?” The answer is “everyone”.

The fibrillation remover gives a shake of energy to the heart, which may help to hit it normally.

The devices are designed to be easy to use, with clear instructions.

If the CPR and the leg of the fibrillation used during the first minutes of the collapse are given, the survival rates may be up to 70 %, as evidence indicates. Without it, less than one out of 10 survival.

If someone is aware and does not breathe normally, call the number 999 and start CPR immediately.

This CPR can be “gradual only” to provide chest pressure in time to get blood pumping.

One of the new theory test questions is about the correct depth of payment down.

“We are pleased to work with DVSA and other partners to enter CPR and consciousness of fibrillation in the leadership theory test,” said James Conf, CEO of the UK Recovery Council.

“By including these life -saving skills in such an evaluation that has been widely taken, we can help ensure that more people, from all societies, gain knowledge and confidence to work during a heart attack.”
