- Upgrading MOMWARE Ardarware Ardarware Awter
- SLKKBUYS MODS and Repairs is teaching on how the process works
- It includes programming Lahham and Bios, and not intended for beginners
The steam deck was subjected to Valve, as it underwent numerous promotions on both devices and software levels, with an informal modification like Decky Loader, and of course, Deck Steam Deck OLED, which provides faster offer and improved battery life. However, there is an informal devices that I suggest to stay away from, unless you know what you are doing.
As mentioned before VideocardzSteam Deck OLED ram can now be upgraded to 32 GB of 16 GB, thanks Slickbuys amendment and repairsThose who presented the process in a YouTube Video (available below).
The amendment aims to improve in -game performance, with more memory allocating to games, which ultimately reduces rocks and low tire rates in some games. However, it is a very sensitive process that I do not recommend to try unless you are aware of the welding and bius modifications.
You will also need to find a memory slice of 32 GB and buy it suitable for the OLED model, which is expensive, as the SLICKBUYS modification and video repairs cost $ 110 (about 82 pounds / $ 170).
Next, you will need to remove the original slide and the new slide welding. Perhaps the worst aspect of this is that it requires a fixed software block, which means that you will never be able to update your deck, because doing this will wipe the settings and restore the RAM to 16 GB.
I think reading this on its own should be enough to deter most of you from trying the process. It will be much easier to go and buy a completely new effort, such as ASUS ROG Ally X, instead of risk destroying hands for good.
Fortunately, if you are interested, the service can be made via SLICKBUYS MODS and repairs, but it should be noted that it is not yet available, and it is likely to be expensive.
Analysis: Please, don’t do this … Just buy a new effort
I am sure that I will not be the first to warn you against doing this, because it is very easy to make a mistake during this process, unless you are good knowledge when it comes to welding programming and BIOS programming. Even if you (or do it through a service), it is still too early to know how this will work in the long run in terms of heat and battery life.
You can miss new and important Steamos updates in the future. This does not mean that you can never Upgrade your deck again, but just be ready to repeat the BIOS programming process again after that.
There is no sign of the launch of a successor on the deck any time soon, despite the recent rumors, but I advise either to adhere to your OLED model or take the jump towards the new Lenovo Legion Go S.
